Rüdiger Fries is responsible within RADIUS Communication & intercultural cooperation for the maintenance and security of the computers and the network. Beyond this, he develops solutions for internet based teamwork and databases, project evaluation and e-Learning modules.
During his studies in Information Sciences, Legal Informatics and History at the Saarland University he has already concentrated on the fields of e-Learning, information retrieval - especially the exploration of search strategies of internet users - and the testing of the usability of websites.
For the Department of Legal Informatics of the Saarland University he has worked as a moderator of online-workshops and has organised the moderation of internationally held online-seminars. From 2002 to 2004 he has coordinated the EU-project "Ikarus - Teaching and Learning in Virtual Learning Environments" and has participated in the project "Seeks - Information Seeking Strategies of Adult Learners in the Information Society". Since Autumn 2005 he is working on the project "MeLLANGE - Multilingual e-Learning in Language Engineering", which is promoted by the LEONARDO program of the European Union.
